Two generations on Fernrock Street.
Ray Calder opened the lot in 1998 with eleven cars and a hand-painted sign, and named it for the ninebark growing along the fence line. His daughter Dana runs it now. The sign is nicer. Not much else has changed.
Why we stopped negotiating
For years we sold cars the traditional way. Sticker price, four-square worksheet, a trip to the manager's office. Two customers could buy the same car on the same afternoon and pay $2,000 apart — and the one who paid more was almost always the one least able to afford it.
In 2016 we stopped. We set every price against live regional market data, published it, and took our salespeople off commission. Our margin per car went down. The number of cars we sell went up, and about a third of them now go to somebody a past customer sent us.

Included in the price. Not an upsell, not a package, not conditional on financing with us.
Included limited warranty
Every vehicle carries a 90-day / 4,000-mile limited powertrain warranty covering the engine, transmission and drive axle, with no deductible and no claim forms. Many of our cars also still carry the balance of their original factory warranty — where that applies it is stated on the vehicle page.
Extended service contracts
Available from two independent administrators, quoted at our cost plus a flat administration fee that we will show you in writing. We will also tell you when we think one is not worth buying for your particular car. Declining does not change your price or your interest rate.
